After being fired from his job as an accountant, Jorge, a young Mexican American, joins his best friend and fellow stoner, Alfonzo, on a day labor crew. As if making a living wasn't difficult enough, Jorge and Alfonzo make it even more so through their daily antics.
For most day laborers, a typical day involves landscaping, maintenance or even some light construction. For Jorge and Alfonzo, a typical day involves dodging surly housekeepers, piping hot pastries, angry girlfriends, the INS and pregnant strippers all while staying true to their one and only love; Mary Jane!
But for our heroes, day labor is more than just a way to earn a few bucks between steady jobs. For Jorge it's an opportunity to clear his head and examine his life, including the prospects of life in a cubicle, an overbearing girlfriend and his lifelong dream of becoming an illustrator. And for Alfonzo it's an excuse to hang out with his best friend, party and put off growing up for a little while longer.
"All in a Day's Labor" combines the slapstick antics of Harold and Kumar with the "deep" philosophizing of Kevin Smith's Clerks. Jorge and Alfonzo prove time and again that if there is indeed a line between work and play, they definitely do not see it!
